For an online store to accept card payments online, you connect the bank's internet acquiring or a payment service. Technically it's simple: the bank gives you keys, you enter them in the admin panel — and payment works. What matters more is meeting the bank's requirements for the site itself.
Online payment in Moldova has long been the standard: the customer wants to pay for the order by card right on the site. Connecting it has two parts — the technical connection of the payment system, and bringing the site into line with the bank's requirements. We cover both.
How connecting payments works
On the technical side it comes down to a few steps: you sign an internet-acquiring contract with the bank, the bank issues you keys (merchant details), and you enter these keys in the store's admin panel. After that, payment acceptance is active — the customer pays by card right on the site, and the money arrives in the bank account.
Which banks and services you can connect
ECOM supports local banks and payment services of Moldova, as well as international systems:
- banks: maib, Moldindconbank (MICB), Victoriabank, FinComBank;
- payment services: Paynet, MPay;
- international: PayPal, Stripe.
The list keeps expanding — if your bank is not on the list, connecting is usually still possible.
The bank's requirements for the site
This is the part that is often forgotten. Each bank has its own requirements for the site, without which it will not connect acquiring. Usually it is about content and presentation:
- the bank's or payment system's logo placed on the site;
- policy pages: privacy, returns and exchange, delivery, public offer;
- the seller's contacts and details, payment terms;
- sometimes a specific placement or wording, different for each bank.
So connecting payments is not just keys in the admin panel, but also configuring the site's content to the specific bank's requirements.
Connection steps
- Sign an internet-acquiring contract with the bank.
- Obtain the keys and merchant details from the bank.
- Enter the keys in the online store's admin panel.
- Configure the site's content to the bank's requirements (logo, policies, offer).
- Run a test payment and enable payment acceptance.
At ECOM we take on the payment connection: we help choose the bank, enter the keys, prepare the needed policy pages and bring the site into compliance. You just sign the contract with the bank — we set up the rest turnkey. You can discuss the connection in a demo.
